Coffee Time with Farmer Jones Session #2

For Starters

We can all agree that 2020 was a year for the books. Then, we hit 2021 and the media says it hasn’t really eased up. So, I started wondering that with all of the stress and strain of the past 12-14 months, what are individuals doing to bring back balance to the force? Yes, I almost immediately made a Star Wars reference. Where do you go or what do you do to refresh your soul in the middle of these times. We’ve had a pandemic, lost loved ones, state governments shut down businesses, and the federal government printed gobs of money. The presidential election and all that has entailed (this could’ve been its own blog). Plus, the holidays and pressure to or not to be with the ones you love. Then there’s all of the normal loss or chaos of life. Has it run you down? Does your iPhone keep you exhausted and constantly chasing things you might’ve been (at one point) happily ignorant to? What I’m trying to ask is, “How are you weathering the storm?”

Solutions

I wonder if it’s prayer? Who meditates? Is exercise your thing? Do you shoot hoops or guns? Maybe you practice yoga? Is it reading? Maybe hobbies arent your outlet. We have multiple vaccines for those who want them now, so are you back with loved ones and coping together? I always wonder what others do in their free time. The best thing I’ve done is to almost flatline my time spent on Facebook and Instagram. I deleted my business Facebook page too. You’ll notice I don’t spend a lot of time on the farm’s IG account either. I know that I’m supposed to. It’s a point of connection for us. I also know that striking a balance in life is critical. Lean-to far in one direction and you’ll fall on your face or your backside. I don’t expect a public comment about your hardships. I’m just trying to suck up a few minutes of your day and make you think about how you deal with stress. It’s about 0200 and blogging is actually knocking the edge off now (coupled with the locally sourced coffee in my mug).

Wrapping it up

Maybe things aren’t so turbulent? It could be that some of us are simply at the phase of life where adulting responsibly is a top priority. We’ve always experienced crisis (and endured), right? One thing I know is that when I look at the last couple of years and glance at our future, I’m glad that we farm, and are your farmer.

Life Tip- When you shop at ALDI, leave the quarter in the buggy.

Thanks for coming back where It’s Farming. Done Right.
